News Flash! Denver is being linked to EVERY available free-agent on the market. Literally. (Not really)
News Flash! Denver is being linked to EVERY available free agent on the market. Literally.
That summarizes the media space as the free-agency period starts in a week and a half. Since we are all about leveling up our football knowledge and media diets, here are the top stories for this week.
“I believe” vs “A source confirms.”
As the offseason marches on, there will be A LOT of conjecture and educated guesses in the sports world. This is your PSA, not every “I think” is worth taking seriously. Even when it feels like a losing battle, remember, good information comes from reliable sources in the space (beat writers, team spokespeople, players themselves). If a sentence starts with “I think/believe/anticipate,” take it for what it really is: guessing.
What to do with Alex Singleton?
The salary cap makes it so that no team can hang on to all of its outbound players, causing good ones like Singleton to fall through the cracks. But the Broncos have an interesting issue when it comes to one of their top defensive captains from 2025. Is Singleton, a thumper in the run game but just so-so against the pass, worth a new contract? If you consider Singleton’s age (32), liabilities when the ball is in the air AND his injury history, it is a bit confusing that Mike Klis is reporting the linebacker will be a priority re-signing this summer.
Save your money, draft a running back.
Yes, Breece Hall is capable of taking one to the house, even on a bad Jets team. Yes, Kenneth Walker is the Super Bowl MVP. While those backs are big names, Denver has their all-purpose back in R.J. Harvey, so the team is really looking for an upgraded version of J.K. Dobbins for 2026. Here is the better question: Why spend premium dollars on a position that is being dominated by the dreaded “Running Back by Committee”?
Well, because it's silly season and some extra zeros in the bank account must mean it's time to go shopping. Denver should save their dollars and go back into the draft, where it can find a younger, cheaper, and equally effective guy to upgrade their running back room.
**Just because it’s the offseason does not mean that Bourbon, Broncos, and No BS are resting until the start of next season. Listen up every Tuesday as we go into the most important topics of the day, giving you something to tide you over until this fall.**
